2020 Course Introduction for Kindergarten Class [幼儿班课程介绍]
This class is for children who have little or no knowledge of the Chinese language. Students will learn Chinese Pinyin (Pronunciation) and learn the basic Chinese language phrases/words, which can be most useful for everyday life.
Class outline:
1. Learn Pinyin and help students to pronounce correctly, especially those different tones,
2. Let students to learn Chinese through stories, songs and activities,
3. Learn basic daily vocabulary and short sentences, such as greetings, school, self, friends, color, numbers, body parts, food.

Teaching Approach:
Our core immersion program emphasizes a comprehensive learning experience with the objective of achieving both language and cultural fluency. Instructors deploy a variety of teaching methods and materials including textbooks designed systematically by leading educators in mainland China. Instructors frequently incorporate into their teaching and homework other materials including songs, poems and essay samplers beyond any chosen textbooks. In the course of acquiring language skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking and grammar, students also obtain rich exposure to Chinese culture.

首先,上课尽量用中文授课,让学生分组,做角色表演来进行会话练习,增加他们的语言表达能力。教师设计尽可能多的有趣游戏,鼓励同学们积极参与,增加同学之间互相练习的机会。让同学反复听,说,做,并可展示肢体语言以帮助理解。鼓励所有的同学们在上课时说中文。
对于阅读,首先要求充分理解课文内容,其次注重发音清楚及语调自然。在同学们阅读时及时纠正不正确的发音,培养良好的正确的阅读习惯。
学生要培养良好的写字习惯。教师在教生字时,一定要强调正确的比划和偏旁部首。
Teaching methods:
Initially, the class will be in Chinese as much as possible. Students will break into groups, role-play to practice conversations, and increase their language ability. Teachers will design interesting games to encourage students' participation, and increase among practice opportunities among students. Students will be asked to listen, and speak, and body language can be used to help them understand the teacher. All of the students will be encouraged to speak Chinese in class.
For reading, first students are required to fully understand the text content. Second, they will focus on clear pronunciation and natural tone. When students read, the teacher corrects their wrong pronunciation so the students will develop good and correct reading habits.
The students will develop a good writing habit. When I teach new characters, I must emphasize correct strokes and Chinese character component radical.

2020 Course Introduction for Level 4 [4年级课程介绍]
Course Description
The purpose of this course is to allow the students to have a further exploration
in Chinese Mandarin on all four skills, listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
It is designed for the students who have finished the courses of level three or its
equivalent.
This course will help the students develop their oral communication skill.
Students will be encouraged to practice conversation during the class. Moreover,
a further mastering of reading and writing skills will be achieved by learning new
vocabulary and grammars.
Finally, students will have a further understanding of Chinese culture not only
through the textbooks but also from the class activities.
四年级班每课涵盖听、说、读、写四类
语言技能和传统文化介绍。词汇方面,学生在增加实词的基础上将会学习更多的虚
词。同时,语法学习将注重句子的构建,学生将在本册课本的学习上掌握中文句子

L4 Simplified class atmosphere is fun, friendly but busy and disciplined. Students
feel included, valued, and respected in positive learning environment. We
start each session with a spelling test of seven new characters learned in the
previous session. We play flash cards to learn new characters. We memorize
new characters in a logical way: analyze the radicals and the character formation
system; count the strokes; and use imagination by linking the shape of the new
characters. Students practice dialogue and reading in pairs or flexible groupings.
Students are engaged and encouraged to participate in class activities through
different games. A favorite student activity is five minutes show and tell time: we
talk about anything in Chinese.
Finally, the children will earn points which they can periodically redeem for
prizes.
Objective
Students will be able to assemble a group of related words into a comprehensive
sentence. They will also be able to conduct simple and practical conversations of
variety of everyday topics.
Evaluation
Assignments: 3 points x 12 weeks = 36 points
Quizzes: 10 points x 2 units = 20 points
Class participation: 10 points
Final: 34 points
Total: 100 points
We encourage students to limit excused absences and decrease unexcused
absences. In the event of unanticipated absences, including sickness or lateness,
student or parents should call the teacher in advance before the class starts.
Student should notify teacher through email for any planned absences as soon
as possible. In case student cannot attend any test, student should discuss with
teacher to arrange the make-up tests.

Mei Zhou Chinese Level 5 is designed for students with the common Chinese knowledge of a fifth grader. It contains lesson articles and conversations related to teen’s world, human ethics, natural sciences, and history of Chinese and Americans. It is written with a level 5 language skill. Besides learning new words/phrases/sentences, teachers will also lead the students to do lesson topic discussions and researches.
Level 5 textbook contains 10 lessons and comes with DVD which will help students learn and practice at home.
Level 5 teaching technique emphasized on: pronunciation and tone; common key words and phrases; story/situational conversation and communication.
Beginning in grade 3, the focus is moved to building abilities in reading and understanding characters through stories of legend, holidays and food making among other topics. Through grade 4 and 5, students learn to use dictionaries, make sentences, and look for overall themes in reading materials.

1. Class Warm-up: start learning Chinese from talking about their favorite stories, songs or anything they like. (Practice their daily Chinese conversations)
2. Homework Feedback: explain the problems in homework. (Reinforce the keys and difficulties in their homework)
3. Quiz: 2-3 times per unit. (Check students’ learning progress)
4. Multimedia format to learn new words and phrases with pictures etc.
5. Spoken Chinese Practice: formats include (a) using games, team work or one-by-one to read text, (b) story telling and conversations, and (c) asking questions after reading to check understanding of these materials. (Enhance practice and understanding of spoken Chinese language)
6. Extracurricular activities: Provide extra projects to students. We will discuss and decide the topics for their writing projects each 1-2 months together, and let students make their own story books.
